- When cooking with cheese, remember excessive heat and cooking may turn it stringy and leathery. Always add the cheese at the end of your cooking as cheese melts fast.
- To shred cheesewith soft texture, use a grater with large holes or chop it finely.
- Slice or shred cheese right out of the refrigerator. Use a cheese slicer or a very sharp knife to cut the cheese into thin slices.
- Shred or cut cheese into small pieces to make cheese melt and shred better.
- Store cheese in a tightly-covered container with a few sugar cubes to keep it from developing mold.
- Hardened cheese can be softened by soaking in buttermilk.
